DIY eDrum Build!

So yeah, I've been fancying a new electronic drum kit for a while now, and you can get some truly great looking kits now that look and feel like real drums (check out http://www.jobekydrums.co.uk/ )
However. They cost moneys, lots of moneys. So I started looking into cheaper alternatives, and seems it's pretty popular to modify existing drum kits and doing electronic "conversions" to turn acoustic kits into ekits, and depending on what kind of kit you buy to convert, works out a lot cheaper than building a kit from the bare shells.

So I've bought myself some matching mapex drums from ebay to start my own build!

1: 14" snare for 30 quid, which will become the kick:

2: 10" and 12" toms, for around 90 quid in total, which I will chop in half to become three toms and a 12" snare:

3. Got some "dual" legs for the snare/kick and chucked on a mesh head to give it a quick test, nice and quiet and very solid! :)

....more to come soon! :)

  1. Hi Bren , could you tell me what dual legs are those ? Which brand is it? Want to convert a kick but can't seem to find those legs. Best regards.
