Bunny and the Badfire - Needle Getting Pushed

Image
This is our second song to be recorded and released, and it's a banger! She a Witch - Spotify It was a ton of fun to record, my Ludwigs have never sounded so good, and my new Snare sounds absolutely beastly, so happy with how this one came out. Big props to Sandy at Foundry Music Lab, get absolutely nailed our sound.

Here's a few videos featuring some of my mocap work on Ryse: Son of Rome, back in 2012 at The Imaginarium.

My 6 foot metal robot school art project

Image
So a teenage me, in the yorkshire dales inspired by scifi but surrounded by industrial farming could only produce one thing for an A-Level art project...  A freaking giant robot sculpture.

Something that comes up frequently in motion capture is the need to track markers that are out of focus, overlapping, or both.

old stone barn - photogrammetry

Image
During an all too brief stay back home, I was treated to some snow! So I decided it was a great opportunity to see how well snowy things reconstruct! I grew up in the Yorkshire Dales where there are lots of old stone buildings dating back several hundred years, some well maintained, some crumbling, but all with amazing character.

Snare drum electronics!

Image
Kinda more wiring than I had originally intended to cram into this box :P

Finished kick drum!

Image
Soooo yeah... been a while since my last post, partly because of a slight case of apendicitis! So progress has pretty much looked like this for a while...    :P

Test setup!

Image
Got the crossbars in for the triggers, gone for off-centre triggers as I want to avoid the "hot-spot" effect in the middle. Quite like the wooden look, keeps with the colour of the shells. Just need to get a few electronics and a couple of extra heads now!

Chopping the toms in half!

DIY Kick Stand

Image
Made myself a cool bracket to attach my kick pedal to the kick drum, basically four pieces of timber, screwed together to form an I-Beam type construction, with a metal T-plate from Wickes, stained then varnished, and bolted to the bottom of the drum, works a treat, rather pleased with how it came out! :)

DIY eDrum Build!

Image
So yeah, I've been fancying a new electronic drum kit for a while now, and you can get some truly great looking kits now that look and feel like real drums (check out  http://www.jobekydrums.co.uk/  ) However. They cost moneys, lots of moneys. So I started looking into cheaper alternatives, and seems it's pretty popular to modify existing drum kits and doing electronic "conversions" to turn acoustic kits into ekits, and depending on what kind of kit you buy to convert, works out a lot cheaper than building a kit from the bare shells.
